Long Beach student Jonas Corona selected for HALO honor due to his love and volunteerism for the disadvantaged

LONG BEACH — Love in the Mirror (LITM) founder Jonas Corona, has been selected as a Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2016 honoree due to the love and volunteerism his non-profit organization, LITM , has shown disadvantaged children and their families.

Nickelodeon recognizes exceptional community leaders making an impact in their communities by “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO).

The public is invited to the Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2016 Screening Party Sunday, Nov. 27, from 6-9 p.m. at Legends Sports Bar, 5236 E. 2nd Street, Long Beach, Calif. to celebrate Corona’s achievement. The  Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2016, held at New York’s Pier 36 and will be simulcast Sunday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT), across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, and Nicktoons.

Corona, 13, was inspired to help others at the age of 6 after meeting a homeless child his own age on Los Angeles’ Skid Row. In the past 7 years, more than 45,000 homeless people have been impacted by the LITM’s fundraising and donation efforts.

“I am grateful to be recognized by Nickelodeon for the volunteer work that I do through Love in the Mirror. I hope to inspire more teens to volunteer in their communities,” said Corona.

Led by host, creator and executive producer Nick Cannon, the one-hour screening will feature appearances by top music artists Jason Derulo, Hailee Steinfeld, Zedd, Alessia Cara, Daya, Jake Miller, Jacob Whitesides, Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa, and stars from the Nickelodeon hit shows The Thundermans, and School of Rock.

The public is invited to join Jonas and Love in the Mirror volunteers at Legends in Long Beach, Calif. for a screening of the HALO Awards. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $5 or more for a chance to win prizes.
